Zhongshan HF Radar Elevation Calibration Based on Ground Backscatter Echoes

چکیده

The super dual auroral radar network (SuperDARN) is an important tool in the remote sensing of ionospheric potential convection middle and high latitudes, also a major source elevation data detection. A reliable angle helps estimate propagation paths high-frequency radio signals between scattering spots radars, which crucial for determining target geolocation. SuperDARN uses interferometry to returned signal. However, are still underutilized owing difficulties phase difference calibration induced by time delay two arrays. This paper statistically analyzes distribution features group range-elevation range-virtual height before after using from ground backscatter echoes Zhongshan radar, calculating root mean square error (RMSE) virtual height; results show that RMSE mostly reduced within 54% calibration. Furthermore, we validate factor based on primary data. 2013 2015 indicate this technique can be efficiently used daily factor. Finally, present statistical factor, provides technical support future.

Elevation Angle Determination for SuperDARN HF Radar Layouts

The international scientific radars known as the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) are designed to primarily measure plasma convection at ionospheric altitudes over a large region of the northern and southern hemispheres. SuperDARN radars are equipped with a secondary interferometry array that is used to measure the elevation angle (α) of signals. These values of α have been used in ...

Effects on SuperDARN HF radar echoes of sudden impulses of solar wind dynamic pressure

In this work we perform a statistical analysis of the ionospheric echo response observed by six radars of the SuperDARN network in the Northern Hemisphere, over 236 Sudden Impulses (SI) of solar wind dynamic pressure events (from 1997 through 2000). For that purpose, we make use of MRS, the Mean Rate of Scattering, as a function of time during the SI event. We classify the events in sudden incr...

Effects of high-latitude atmospheric gravity wave disturbances on artificial HF radar backscatter

Observations of HF radar backscatter from artificial field-aligned irregularities in an ionosphere perturbed by travelling disturbances due to atmospheric gravity waves are presented. Some features of the spatio-temporal structure of the artificial radar backscatter can be explained in terms of the distortion of the ionosphere resulting from the travelling disturbances. The distorted ionosphere...

3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar

There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...

Polarimetric analysis of radar backscatter from ground-based scatterometers and wheat biomass monitoring with advanced synthetic aperture radar images

This article presents an analysis of the scattering measurements for an entire wheat growth cycle by ground-based scatterometers at a frequency of 5.3 GHz. Since wheat ears are related to wheat growth and yield, the radar backscatter of wheat was analyzed at two different periods, i.e., with and without wheat ears. Simultaneously, parameters such as wheat and soil characteristics as well as vol...
